The various offences and the punishment provided for them are contained in Chapters IX and XI of the Act. These offences are briefly stated as follows:— 1.  Unauthorized Access (Section 43): The section lays down that any person who accesses or secures access to a computer, computer system or computer network without permission of the owner or any person in charge of such computer, computer system or computer network, shall be liable to pay damages by way of compensation not exceeding one crore rupees to the person who is so affected.
